It most certainly is. Online Travel Agents understandably charge around 20% commission, to cover their huge advertising costs. However, you've found us directly so we don't need to charge anything - all the savings are passed back to the customer.
Life happens, and sometimes plans change. If our guests can't make the trip to Velvet Cottage for any reason, for direct bookings we offer a full refund of all monies paid. Obviously, we appreciate as much notice as possible to give us chance to re-let.
Velvet Cottage is self check-in using a keysafe. After the booking balance has been paid, you receive arrival information including the keysafe code for your stay. Check in is normally after 4pm, but earlier check-ins are facilitated where possible.
There are steep steps to access Velvet Cottage, so it is not suitable for persons of restricted mobility or breathing conditions such as asthma.
Yes, there is free off road parking for one family size vehicle and parking on the lane for a second. We ask that guests park considerately, as the lane is single track and residents further up the lane need access at all times.
Yes, there’s no extra charge for pets. Dogs are free to explore our fully enclosed garden

Electric heating is included in the price. The heating schedule is pre-programmed and the radiators can then be adjusted to suit.
Not really. What we do ask is that guests are careful with what they put down the sinks and toilets, as we have a biological sewage treatment plant which relies on live bacteria. Bleach is a definite no-no!
Choose Velvet Cottage if you like outdoor activities, especially walking in wonderful countryside right from the doorstep.
Choose Velvet Cottage if you like dog friendly holidays. Our enclosed garden is safe for them to freely explore.
Choose Velvet Cottage if you like peace and quiet, but within walking distance of excellent places to eat and drink.
Having said all that, Velvet Cottage is over 200 years old with the original low doorways and fairly steep steps, so it's not suitable for persons with breathing difficulties and can be a challenge for tall people!
